Thank You God

Song:

Ain't Nobody by Cody Carnes

Scripture:

Psalm 103

1.What are the benefits of the Lord found in the first 5 verses?

2.In verses 10-12: What is a major reason to always be thankful?

3.What can you praise the Lord for today?

Lately, I’ve been working on thanksgiving. I’m trying to be thankful when things are good and when things are tough, and especially when days are hard. Studies have proven that thankfulness is good for not just your mind (supports positive emotions, relieves stress and increases happiness) but it is also good for your overall health and relationships. It’s like God knew that when he made us, what would be good for us.

This song is so upbeat and happy, it just screams thankfulness to me. And thankfulness is hard to remember when you are parent. I look around and see a constantly messy house, endless list of chores, dealing with tantrums, potty training and/or dirty diapers, always being needed, no time for rest or privacy… I could go on, and on and on. It is hard to have a thankful heart when I look at my life in that way. But as Christians, we have so much to praise God for. The Psalm lists many and the song lists even more. Some days, when it is hard, I must dig deep, and be thankful for the smallest thing. Maybe I am just thankful for a moment to drink my cup of coffee, a hot shower at the end of the day or if I am wearing matching socks. But in all moments as a parent, remember to be thankful, for God is good to us and we need to remember that!

Prayer:

Abba,

Thank you for my children for they are a blessing from you. Thank you for forgiving my sins, and not treating me as my sins deserve. Thank you for rescuing me from the darkness and redeeming me through Jesus. Thank you for your endless love and compassion.

Please be the ruler over my heart and my home.

Amen
