Gift of Grace
Song:
Wholehearted by We are Messengers
Scripture:
Luke 15: 11-32
Parable of the Lost Son
1.What lyrics from the song point to the lost son?
2.What lyrics from the song point to the father?
3. How can we take comfort in the father's response to the younger son's return?
I love how the word can speak to you in different ways in different chapters of life. For the Parable of the Lost son, I always identified with the older son. I was raised in a Christian household, I accepted Christ in middle School. I tried to live my life by doing good things and being kind and compassionate to others. However, I fell under the guise of living my life as I saw fit. But, after going through a true “valley” the last three years, I realized that I am more like the lost son. Even though I loved Jesus, I never had a relationship with him. I never communicated with him on a regular, continual basis. I never relied on the word to guide my thoughts, decisions or answer my many, many questions. I never worshiped God the way he deserves to be worshiped. I never respected his true holiness. Thankfully, God is true to his word and promises. When I called out to him in desperation one night, He was there with open arms. We are all imperfect humans who need His love and perfect gift of grace. Just like the father in the parable, He is always waiting for you to return to his outstretched arms. How can you make changes in your life to show God that you are thankful for his wholehearted gift of grace? What steps can you make to deepen your relationship with him?
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for your amazing gift of grace and your everlasting love. I take comfort knowing you have forgiven me no matter what it is in my past. Help me to deepen my relationship with you and honor you with my actions.
Amen
