Fear or Faith?

In You by Iveth Luna

Scripture:

Matthew 14:22-33

Jesus Walks on Water

1.How do you relate to the words of the song?

2. What miracles are referenced in the song?

3. What two miracles are found in the scripture?

We all face problems and storms in our life. Some are small and easily weathered, while others are huge waves crashing over us, breaking our bodies, hearts, and minds. Addiction. Divorce. Dead-end jobs. Toddlers and tantrums. Trying to function on little to no sleep. Illness. Depression. Death of a loved one. What is your storm? How have you tried to weather it? Do you cower in fear-shaken and broken? Do you cling to a man-made life raft?

I love this scripture. On the surface, it is an amazing account of a miracle. But deeply study the words, you'll find a road map to weathering any type of storm in life. So, what do we need to do? Be like Peter and get out of the boat during the storm and walk towards Jesus. Seems counterintuitive. Get out of the safety of the boat? Walk on the unsteady and unpredictable water? But with faith you can face the impossible, even walking on water during a raging storm! Put fear away. Pick up your faith and pick up your feet and walk to Jesus. Philippians 4:13 says. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (KJV). Christ not only give Peter the ability to walk on water, but he also calmed the storm once they got back in the boat. If he can do those things, imagine what he can help you accomplish. Strengthen your faith in Christ by reading the bible, praying, meditating on His word, and find counsel in other Christ followers. Don’t weather the storm fearful and isolated, instead put your faith in Jesus and join with his power.
